Finance held Evaluation of 2021 revenue projections and targets for 2022

THT-An annual regional meeting to evaluate revenue projections for the previous year (2021), and the target for the following year was held in Hargeisa. The meeting brought together Revenue Departments of Customs and Inland and regional accountants general officials.

The objective of the meeting was to evaluate the work and input of different regional offices in terms of revenue collections, for instance the increase or decrease of tax payment and challenges faced by the revenue officers in their day to day work. They also explored opportunities that need to be capitalized.

The meeting agenda was to check regional custom offices that have reached the intended quota of revenue collections.

Regional accountants and top custom officers exchanged with the top ministry of finance officials their annual work reviews. They also discussed and suggested new ideas on ways to increase regional tax collections.

The participants of the meeting acknowledged that the last year (2021) revenue exceeded 3% of the same year’s projection budget.

They stated that this shows that the restructuring of the customs section has borne fruit.

The participants also listened to a clerical lesson from a prominent Somaliland cleric Sheikh Mohamoud Jamil on the theme “Importance of protecting public finances.”

The cleric informed the participants that it is of utmost benefit in this present world and the hereafter for public servants to virtous and take care of treasures entrusted upon them.

The meeting was closed by the assistant minister of finance and the Director-General Hon. Roda J. Elmi and Mohamed A. Gurhan respectively.
