THT-The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Isse Keyd Mohamud and a delegation of parliamentarians led by him visited the Port of Berbera and praised the development and modernization of the Port of Berbera, adding it will contribute to the economic growth of Somaliland.
Dr Isse’s delegation, which included Conservative MP Gavin Williamson, who in December last year submitted a motion to the British Parliament on the recognition of Somaliland, supported by 20 participants in his debate, praised the port’s development;
“It is a great honor for me to be here at the port of Berbera, with amazing investment, not just DP World. In fact, DP World and the British government are investing in Somaliland, because, we see the future, we see its potential, and we recognize, that it will lead the whole of East Africa. See investment, see what happens,” said MP Williamson.
Officials from DP World, the company that manages the Berbera port, briefed a delegation of British MPs accompanying Foreign Secretary Dr Isse on their visit to Berbera yesterday.
A delegation of members of both houses of the British Parliament leading by the Ambassador of the Republic of Somaliland to the United Kingdom Abdi Abdillahi Dayah-weerar arrived in the country on Thursday, had been welcomed home The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland Dr. Issa Kayd, who then escorted to the Presidential palace where President H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi has met.
Speaking at the UK airport before leaving for Somaliland, MP Williamson said, “We are very pleased to be travelling to Somaliland to see the progress being made.
