President receives EU and Sweden Diplomat

THT-President H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi received over the week the new EU and Swedish Ambassadors and briefed them on the progress made by the Republic of Somaliland over the past three decades.

 

President Bihi detailed how Somaliland as a nation, has succeeded to conduct democratic elections that have attracted the attention of the world, and uphold peace and stability, a milestone fete in the region and a good example to the rest of the world.

 

 

In the meetings, in which the president was flanked by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Abdinasir Omar Jama,  discussed the strengthening of relations between the European Union and Sweden with the country, and the acceleration of development projects, both existing and others in the pipeline. They also pondered on the electoral processes and regional issues in the Horn of Africa.

The delegates, for their part, commended the President and the people of Somaliland for the progress and vision of Somaliland to achieve their long-term and short-term goals.

They also congratulated the Somaliland government on the electoral process, and they pledged furthering on the good relations that already exist between Somaliland, the European Union and Sweden.

The EU Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Maria Groeneveld, EU Program Manager and Mr Adnan Ahmed from the Somaliland Office at the EU.
