THT-The minister of Interior Hon. Mohamed Kahin witnessed the process of counting the votes of the Yemeni community for their new leadership for the next three years.
The one vote per person election was held by the Yemen refugee community in Somaliland electing the community board of committee with three years’ concluded in Hargeisa yesterday.

The election polled by 450 Yemenis residing in the country was contested by 24 candidates vying for 11 seats at members of the community board committee for the next three years.
The community also voted for nine candidates for a five-member task-follow-up force to monitor the work of the committee.
The whole processes began at 6 am till 6 pm in the evening, while vote counting took upto 12 p.m. for the all winners to be announced.
One of the board committee post contenders at the Yemeni Community in Somaliland, who was asked his view, responded “We want to copy Free, Fair and Transparent elections from Somalilanders” adding, we hope our country will one day become peaceful and similar elections will happen.

Somaliland’s democratic credentials provide lessons to the region. The Yemeni Community in Somaliland said that they were amazed at the credible Free, Fair and Transparent elections in Somaliland, that they wanted to do the same in their own community level elections.
