Cabinet discuss 2022 budget that is earmarked to increase servicemen pay

THT-The State is poised to increase the salaries of the security personnel come 2022 national budget.

The need of prioritizing the various arms of security personal remuneration was first put to light as the 2022 budget forecast is expected to be up by 9%.

The revelation which according to our correspondent Mohamoud Walaaleye was first made public when the treasury met with the civil society (public hearing) as part of its steps in budget preparation as per macro-economic and fiscal paper.

This reminder is herein made given the steps has systematically reached the availance stage of the proposal to the cabinet.

The 77th session of the Council of Ministers chaired by the President of Somaliland HE Muse Bihi Abdi went about their duties by embarking on the budget estimates in question after being briefed by the finance minister Hon. Sa’ad Ali Shire on the national economic situation at hand and forecasts of 2022-24 fiscal budget plans.

The budget estimates proposals is still to undergo various stages before a consolidated version is brought back to the council of cabinet for final approval.

Flanked by the Vice President, H.E. Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail (Sayli’i), the Presidency also heard briefings from various ministers, notably those of the interior, foreign affairs and that of the environment.

The Minister of Interior Hon. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed briefed the cabinet on plans to bolster the overall security situation in the country and the efforts of the various security forces to ensure that national stability is maintained and upheld for that matter.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, (who has recently been acting as the minister), Hon. Liban Yusuf Osman distributed copies of the newly state-prepared official Country Profile books while highlighting the important features the contents carried.

Finally, the council heard a report from the Minister of Environment and Rural Development, Ms. Shukri Haji Ismail Bandare,  briefed the council on the ministry’s increased efforts to prevent environmental degradation, especially the cutting down and burning of trees for illegal commercial charcoal trade which soared, while noting the efforts the department has doubled in order to put an end to the heightened ecological degradation.
