Djibouti Officially Apologizes over Naval Incident Nearly One Week After

The government of Djibouti has for the first admitted that its navy strayed into Somaliland Waters nearly one week a solider attached to SL Coast guard corps lost his life and two others injured after both sides engaged  in live fire exchange deep inside Somaliland territorial waters.

Representatives of the two nations announced the new development during a joint press conference held in Djibouti City, Djibouti.

Djiboutian Minister of Fisheries Hon Mohamed Somali and Djiboutian Navy Commander Abdurrahman Shir speaking during the joint press conference issued an official apology to the government of Somaliland.

The Djiboutian officials admitted that their naval forces wrongfully strayed into SL territorial waters and at the same time announcing they will compensate damages.

Hon Ali Mohamed Warancade , Somaliland Minister of Interior flanked by Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Hon Ali Bureed , and Admiral Mohamed Hussein “Hiranee” , SL Coast Guards Commander during the joint press conference held together with Djiboutian counterparts announced they will form a joint task force in order to avoid such incidents from occurring in the future.
