Passengers Warned against Smuggling Illegal Substances through Country’s Airport- Ministry of Civil Aviation

Hargeisa (THT) Somaliland Ministry of Civil Aviation and Air Transport prohibit the export of Khat through the country’s airports this was revealed in a press statement released by the official Ministry spokesperson Mr. Saddam Mohamed Ahmed.

The press statement released by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Air Transport read as follows:-

The Egal International Airport authorities last week confiscated a consignment of Khat smuggled through the airport illegally and which destined for the UK, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

The Egal International Airport security staff with the assistance of state of the art equipment installed at the airport managed to foil the sophisticated plot which involved dozens of would be holiday makers carrying European passports who were attempting to smuggle the Khat meant to be sold in the European market.

Somaliland Ministry of Civil Aviation and Air Transport strongly do hereby warn all those passengers using airports in the country against trying to smuggle Khator any illegal substances in that matter to European countries and Middle Eastern countries.

In that respect we urge all would be passengers using the country’s airports against engaging in smuggling and that anyone caught in such activities shall face the full wrath of the law.
