President Meets Civil Society Groups and reiterates commitment to free electioneering process

Hargeisa  (THT) H.E Ahmed Mohamed  Mahmoud Silanyo over the week in his office met with civil society groups to discuss ways in which would play in informing and educating the general  public  on  the  importance  of

registering eligible voters and the issuance of national identity cards before  the  holding  of  next  year’s

parliamentary and Presidential elections which is due next year. President Silanyo during the meeting members of the civil societies groups said, “I do believe it’s the dut for all of  us as citizens,  especially

those of you engaged in civil society work  and  members  of  the  official opposition  organizations  to  work jointly in making this process a success. The  Minister  of  Interior  Hon Mohamed Ali  Waran Cade  elaborating of the process had this to say, “The  current  government  led  by

President Silanyo is committed to a free and  fair  elections system  and will ensure a level playing field for all  political parties  in  the  election process At the same time Hon Waran Cade became the first person to register for  both  the new  national  identity card and voter’s  registration  card followed by the assistant minister of Presidency  Hon  Mohamed  Muse Abbes  who  became  the  second

person to register. Also  present  during  the  meeting were  the members of the  national identity card and voter’s registration committee  and  representatives of Sahan , the firm which won the contract  forthe  procurement  of  the SomalilanNational  ID card system.
