President directs ministers to step-up regular sub-committees meeting, enhance inter-governmental coordination

The President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro has directed the cabinet ministers to step-up and maintain regular meetings of Cabinet sub-committees in order to enhance coordination among national institutions and speed up the implementation of government decisions and priority programs.

The Head of State likewise instructed them to have their regular reports prepared on the activities and responsibilities assigned to the cabinet’s various sub-committees hence ensure effective monitoring and accountability.

He made the directives during the 67th regular weekly session of the Council of Ministers which he chaired by while flanked by his deputy the Vice President Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, was held on Wednesday at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa.

The meeting addressed several key national issues, including security, livestock development, government performance monitoring, and coordination between the government and the ruling party.; viz-

National Security Situation

Minister of Interior and National Security Hon. Abdalle Mohamed Arab briefed the Cabinet on the country’s overall security and stability. He reported that Somaliland remains secure and stable, with no incidents of unrest or threats to public order recorded across the country.

The Minister also informed the Cabinet that the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with relevant government agencies, is conducting an assessment and verification exercise concerning all foreign nationals residing in Somaliland. The review covers individuals residing legally, those staying illegally, and persons granted refugee or humanitarian protection, in accordance with Somaliland’s laws and relevant international agreements.
