The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Somaliland has firmly dismissed as “false, baseless, and misleading” reports circulating in sections of the international media that attributed comments on Somaliland–Israel cooperation to Defence Minister H.E. Mohamed Yusuf Ali.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry categorically denied that Minister Mohamed Yusuf Ali had granted any interview, made any statement, or provided any comment to Reuters, Al Arabiya English, or any other media organization regarding relations or cooperation between Somaliland and Israel.
“The Minister has not spoken to Reuters, Al Arabiya English, or any other media outlet on this matter,” the Ministry stated, rejecting all reports claiming otherwise as fabricated and inaccurate.
The Ministry accused those responsible for spreading the reports of disseminating misinformation and disinformation aimed at distorting Somaliland’s official position and misleading both local and international audiences.
Officials warned media organizations and journalists against publishing unverified claims and urged the public to rely exclusively on official government statements and authorized communication channels for accurate information.
The Defense Ministry further stressed that the circulation of false reports risks undermining public trust and damaging the credibility of responsible journalism.
Reaffirming Somaliland’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and factual communication, the Ministry said all official positions and policies will continue to be conveyed through verified government channels.
“The Republic of Somaliland remains committed to transparency and responsible communication through its authorized official platforms,” the statement concluded.
