On the third day of the Republic of Somaliland’s landmark official visit to Israel, President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro led a dynamic delegation into substantive discussions with Israel’s Minister of Economy and Industry, Nir Barkat, signaling a bold new chapter in bilateral economic partnership.

As published on the Twitter (X) page of the Somaliland Central Bank, today, the high-stakes meeting zeroed in on unlocking fresh avenues for trade, investment, and industrial growth between the two nations. Central to the talks was a strong call for Israeli private-sector companies to seize opportunities in Somaliland, with the strategic Port of Berbera and its thriving Free Economic Zone positioned as vital gateways to broader regional markets.

Both sides expressed keen interest in practical collaboration to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), upgrade and expand livestock and agricultural exports, and drive forward-looking partnerships in innovation, technology, and the digital economy.

President Irro and his team spotlighted Somaliland’s rich natural resources and promising investment landscape, while both delegations exchanged ideas on crafting a more attractive, business-friendly environment designed to draw capital and generate mutual prosperity.

The encounter forms a key pillar of ongoing efforts to cultivate a robust strategic partnership rooted in shared economic ambition, vibrant trade flows, targeted investments, and meaningful knowledge exchange—further cementing the rapidly warming ties between Somaliland and Israel.
