Somaliland Ministry of Finance Concludes Internal Audit Training for 30 Officers

The Minister of State for Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Ismail Mowlid Abdilaahi, on Tuesday officially closed a specialized training workshop organized for 30 officers from the Ministry’s Internal Audit Department.

The training formed part of the Ministry’s ongoing strategy to strengthen staff capacity and professional development. Participants received intensive instruction on key areas including internal audit procedures, risk assessment, compliance monitoring of financial regulations, and the formulation of practical recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and administrative processes.

The Ministry of Finance has identified the strengthening of internal audit functions as a top priority, describing the department as the cornerstone of public financial accountability, national asset protection, and citizen confidence in government institutions. The Internal Audit Department plays a central role in preventing financial irregularities, combating corruption, and ensuring full adherence to Somaliland’s legal and regulatory framework governing public finances.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Minister of State Ismail praised the participants for their dedication and active engagement throughout the program. He congratulated them on their commitment to professional growth and presented each officer with a certificate of completion.

The Ministry reaffirmed its continued investment in building a robust, skilled, and integrity-driven internal audit workforce to support transparent and effective public financial management in Somaliland.
