The Director General of the Central Bank of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Yasin Jama Ahmed, today led a high-level joint inspection of the ongoing reconstruction of Waaheen Market, accompanied by members of the National Reconstruction Committee.
The visit focused on evaluating the construction progress of the meat and vegetable market section, which is managed by the Hargeisa local government and fully funded by the Central Bank.
During the working meeting, representatives from Daryeel Construction Company and SEMA Consultant Firm delivered detailed updates. The project, now in its 81st day, has achieved 20% completion and is proceeding exactly as scheduled, officials confirmed.
The inspection concluded with closing remarks by the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments of Somaliland, Sheikh Abdilahi Dahir Jama (Bashe).
The Waaheen Market reconstruction is a major initiative to restore and modernize one of Hargeisa’s most important commercial hubs, which suffered extensive damage from a devastating fire in 2022. The Central Bank’s investment aims to enhance infrastructure, improve trader facilities, and support the revival of local economic activity.
