Ethiopian Delegation Visits Berbera Port and Free Zone to Explore Trade and Investment Opportunities

A high-level delegation of Ethiopian businessmen and investors arrived in Berbera on a working visit to inspect the Port of Berbera and the Berbera Free Zone, seeking potential opportunities in trade, logistics, and investment.

The delegation was accompanied by senior officials from the Somaliland’s Ministry of Finance including the Director General of the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Hassan, the Director of Customs, Abdirahman, and other key representatives.

During the visit, the group was given a comprehensive tour of the port’s modern facilities, state-of-the-art infrastructure developments, and the strategic importance of the Berbera Port in facilitating regional trade.

Mr. Ali Diriye Ahmed, Director General of the Somaliland Ports Authority, welcomed the delegation and emphasized that the Port of Berbera is fully prepared to serve Ethiopia’s trade needs, providing efficient, reliable, and competitive services.

The Ethiopian delegation expressed strong appreciation for the ongoing progress at the port and the Berbera Free Zone, describing them as a critical gateway for Ethiopia to access global markets.

The visit underscores growing interest from Ethiopia in leveraging Berbera’s strategic location and enhanced capabilities to support its import-export activities and broader economic ambitions in the Horn of Africa region.
