The Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, Brigadier General Abdirahman Abdullahi Hassan, announced a significant strengthening of cooperation between the police and the community to enhance public safety in the capital Hargeisa and across the country.
Speaking to journalists, the Commander revealed that the installation of modern security cameras has already begun at all major intersections in Hargeisa, with plans to equip every intersection in the capital with these cameras.
“We are also installing security cameras in all neighborhoods of the city to make monitoring easier and to better protect the safety of our citizens,” Commander Abdirahman said.
In addition, the Police Command has constructed a new state-of-the-art control center at Police Headquarters. The facility is equipped with large screens that display live footage from cameras in markets and residential areas. The system operates 24 hours a day, staffed by officers who continuously monitor and record incidents occurring throughout the city.
This large-scale surveillance initiative marks a major step forward in Somaliland’s efforts to modernize its security infrastructure and maintain peace and order in the capital.
