The Somaliland Coast Guard has been praised as one of the most active and effective agencies in utilizing the Indian Ocean Regional Information Sharing (IORIS) platform during the 3rd IORIS Steering Committee Policy Board and Working Groups Meeting in Manila, Philippines.
Deputy Commander Col Khadar Mohamed Isse, accompanied by senior officers, represented Somaliland at the conference, which focused on strengthening maritime and port security through coordinated regional information exchange.
Throughout the proceedings, the Somaliland Coast Guard was repeatedly highlighted for its successful and proactive use of the IORIS platform.
In his address, Col Khadar emphasized the critical role of the Somaliland Coast Guard in maritime domain awareness, regional cooperation, and safeguarding Somaliland’s territorial waters and the Gulf of Aden.
He attributed these achievements to the vision of President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro, who has prioritized enhancing the capabilities and international standing of the Coast Guard.
Under the leadership of Admiral Ahmed Hure Hariye, the Somaliland Coast Guard continues to gain recognition for its professionalism and active contribution to regional maritime security.
