The people of Somaliland will come together in unity to commemorate the first anniversary of the passing of the 4th President of the Republic of Somaliland, the late Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud (Siilaanyo), a beloved national leader who dedicated his entire life to the liberation, state-building, and development of the Somaliland people. His memory holds great significance in the history of the Somali community—may Allah have mercy on him.
During his tenure (2010–2017), the late Siilaanyo established remarkable achievements, including: Strong governmental reforms that strengthened national institutions,
Political openness and an electoral system that enhanced democracy,
The growth of Somaliland’s relations with international partners,
The establishment of stability and strong community cohesion.
His legacy is a beacon of leadership, tolerance, public service, and national care, serving as an example and guide for future generations.
SPECIAL CEREMONY FOR THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE SECOND PHASE OF SIILAANYO NATIONAL LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION
To honor the impactful legacy of his memory, a heartfelt ceremony will be held on the evening of Saturday, transitioning into Sunday, to officially open the second phase of the construction of the Siilaanyo National Library. The event will take place at Hotel Ali Jirde, Galbis Hall, in Hargeysa.
The ceremony will be attended by: Senior officials of the Government of the Republic of Somaliland,
Respected businesspeople and community leaders,
Scholars, youth, and active civil society organizations,
Poets and honored community members,
Various segments of the Somaliland population.
This occasion will feature: Promising plans for the library’s future and its activities,
The second phase of construction and improved community services,
The significant role the library plays in promoting knowledge and youth development.
The Siilaanyo National Library stands as a valuable national project, designed to become a center for knowledge, research, cultural heritage, and youth empowerment—built upon the vision and aspirations of the late Siilaanyo for a prosperous society.
