The President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro has urged the members of the public to work in collaboration with the police force to foster relations and bolster security stability in the nation.
He made the sentiments as he led the nation by gracing the occasion of the 32nd anniversary celebration of the founding of the Somaliland Police Force, an annual event held at the main hall of the Police Force in Hargeisa.
In his remarks he offered gratitude, encouragement, and exhortation, greatly praising the Somaliland Police Force for the heavy work they perform for the nation and for the historic role the police have in preserving peace, security, stability, and public order in the country.
The President congratulated the Commander of the Somaliland Police Force on the tangible progress the service has made during the short period of the current administration.
He stated that the police department is the “foundation of the peace upon which we sit, sleep, and awaken”, stressing that “the police are the backbone of statehood and a symbol of the nation’s resilience and unity”.
The President said that his government is committed to strengthening and modernizing the sector so that it can meet the continuously changing security and social needs, and be fully capable of fulfilling its national duties of upholding the law, maintaining peace, and protecting citizens’ property.
Others who addressed the occasion included the Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, Brig Gen Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan, the Minister of Interior and National Security, Hon. Abdalle Mohamed Arab; and the Head of Police Operations Ibrahim Haji Abdi — all of whom briefed on various key achievements the police force has realized during the short tenure of the Unity and Action administration.
They likewise highly praised the Police for their hard work, commended the bravery, integrity, and efforts that they have shown in security services for the country and maintaining peace.
Finally, the President urged the Somaliland Police Force to continue their professionalism, honesty, and patriotism in serving their nation for the past 32 years, and called on the peace-loving people of the Republic of Somaliland to stand by and cooperate with their Police Force.
