The government of the nation of Somaliland is so much focussed on stability and investments such that the country may develop for the good of people.
In the same breath the country invites wholeheartedly and with open arms multinationals to invest in Somaliland since there are abundant opportunities and conducive atmosphere to fledge.
The above sentiments were expressed by the President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi, popularly known as Irro, on Sunday as he launched the Somaliland Investment Conference, which was held at the Sarovar Premier Hotel in the capital Hargeisa that is slated to last for two days hence brought together 80 investors from 23 countries, including those from the Horn of Africa.
The Head of State sincerely thanked the investors and multinational delegates who are participating in the conference and welcomed global investors to take the golden opportunities available.
The Somaliland Investment Conference has been convened by the Ministry of Investment and Industrial Development in collaboration with the Ministry of the Presidency.
The President spoke in depth about the vast investment opportunities available in the Republic of Somaliland, especially in the areas of economic infrastructure, livestock, fisheries, agriculture, energy, minerals and modern technology.
He noted that the country has everything that encourages investments staring from the potential and abundance of areas of investiture to conducive atmosphere such as political and peaceful stability and comprehensive trappings of all duly governance structures.
The security and its stability, democratic government system, stable political calmness, laws and regulations that facilitate investment and private business activities, skilled labour and knowledgeable workforce, and a vibrant social community that is harmonious and quite welcoming.
The President underpinned the fact that his administration has all along prioritized creation of transparent, conducive and open investment environment that encourages Public-Private Partnership, while promoting development and job creation for the Somaliland people.
The President hailed the DP World by expressing his special gratitude to them for being the first major multinational group to dare invest, a decade ago, in the Berbera International Port and the Berbera Economic Free Zone; a move that has brought investment opportunities in Somaliland to the attention of the world.
He noted that the Somaliland Investment Conference is a platform that demonstrates the confidence of the world in the economic and political future of Somaliland.
The Somaliland Investment Conference is historic and opens the doors to cooperation and economic integration in the region and the world, as Somaliland has presented a clear vision and strategic plan to develop the country’s economy and the lives of the people of Somaliland.
Since being sworn into office, the ten-month old administration of President Abdirahman Irro has focussed on stabilizing the political and security situation within the nation and prioritized investments in his half a dozen foreign trips that he has so far engaged in from Kenya, the UAE to Qatar.
