In a vibrant display of international camaraderie, the Somaliland House of Representatives welcomed a high-profile delegation from Sweden on its parliamentary premises in Hargeysa, setting the stage for enhanced bilateral ties.

The warmly received visit, hosted by the First Deputy Speaker and Acting Speaker, Hon. Said Mire Farah (Giire), took place in the heart of the parliament’s chambers, symbolizing Somaliland’s commitment to global engagement.

Led by Somaliland’s Ambassador to Sweden, Mr. Sakariye Hasan Wa’ays, the delegation included esteemed Swedish MPs Magnus Oscarsson, Mikael Oscarsson, Mathias Bengtsson, and Dan Hovskär, alongside party officials Annicki Oscarsson, Natalie Oscarsson, and Katrin Hovskär.

The gathering within the parliamentary premises highlighted the shared values of democracy and cooperation.The discussions were dynamic and optimistic, focusing on Somaliland’s storied history, the pivotal role of its parliament in strengthening democratic governance, and opportunities for future partnerships in areas like governance and community development.

Ms. Salma Abdirahman, head of the parliament’s gender office, captivated attendees with an uplifting presentation on the office’s initiatives, showcasing Somaliland’s dedication to inclusive progress.

Hon. Said Mire Farah (Giire) expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Hosting this distinguished delegation on our parliamentary premises is a profound honor. The historic ties between Somaliland and Sweden are a foundation for a brighter, collaborative future.”
