The nations of Somaliland and Djibouti have stepped up the bolstering and furthering of bilateral relations following a visit of the Djibouti delegation led by its trade and tourism minister who met the President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro at the Presidency on Wednesday.
The President noted in the meeting that he hopes the Djibouti President Ismael Omar Guelle would be the first foreign head of state to officially visit Somaliland.
According to a press release by the Presidency, the Head of State and visiting minister Mohamed Warsame discussed strengthening cooperation between the two brotherly countries, especially in the areas of trade, tourism, people’s movement, and development projects that benefit both countries.
They pondered on the ways and means to expand and strengthen the historical, cultural, economic and cooperative relations shared by the two peoples and the two nations.
President Abdirahman Irro thanked the delegation for their visit, underlining the importance of the two countries working together to develop trade and facilitate tourism, in order to boost the economy and create job opportunities for the communities living on both sides.
“I hope that the President of Djibouti will be the first head of state to visit Somaliland …” , said the President notably.
For his part, Minister Mohamed Warsame Diiriye, said that the government and people of Djibouti are committed to further strengthening the brotherly, cooperative relations and important interests shared by the two countries, especially in the areas of trade, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
