The government of Qatar has extended a generous $3 million in financial aid to support communities in Somaliland severely impacted by ongoing drought conditions, according to a statement from Somaliland’s Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Sheikh Abdullahi Dahir Jama (Bashe).

Speaking on behalf of Somaliland’s Drought Relief Committee and President, Minister Bashe expressed profound gratitude to Qatar for its timely and significant contribution. “This $3 million donation addresses the urgent needs of our people affected by the drought,” he said. “We are deeply thankful for Qatar’s support, which exceeds our expectations and strengthens the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between our two nations.”

The funds are expected to provide critical relief to Somaliland’s drought-stricken regions, where communities have faced severe shortages of food, water, and resources. The minister highlighted the importance of this aid in bolstering Somaliland’s efforts to mitigate the crisis and prayed for divine intervention to ease the hardships caused by the drought.

This donation further solidifies the strong bilateral ties between Somaliland and Qatar, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to mutual support and cooperation. The Drought Relief Committee is expected to oversee the distribution of the aid to ensure it reaches those most in need.
