Republic of Somaliland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Türkiye’s Consul General in Hargeisa over reports of the Turkish Somalia Ambassador’s engagement in Mogadishu with an individual hostile to Somaliland. The government deems this act a violation of non-interference, threatening regional stability and bilateral relations. Somaliland demands an urgent explanation from Türkiye and vows to protect its sovereignty and security.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland has summoned the General Consul of the Republic of Türkiye in Hargeisa, following reports of a recent engagement in Mogadishu between the Turkish Ambassador and an individual actively involved in hostile actions against Somaliland.
The Government of the Republic of Somaliland considers this act deeply alarming and unacceptable, as it undermines the principle of non-interference, damages mutual respect between Somaliland and Türkiye, and contributes to further instability in the Horn of Africa.
The Government of the Republic of Somaliland demands a formal and urgent explanation from the Government of Türkiye and affirms that Somaliland will not tolerate actions that compromise its sovereignty, security, or national interests.
