The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro, accompanied by a large delegation, conducted an official working visit to the city of Berbera, the capital of the Saahil Region, today.
En route from Hargeisa to Berbera, President Irro and his delegation were warmly welcomed by large crowds of citizens, reflecting the strong public support and confidence in the Unity and Performance Government led by President Irro. The enthusiastic reception underscored the trust that the people of Somaliland place in his administration’s vision for progress and development.
The primary purpose of the President’s visit was to oversee and evaluate the progress of national initiatives and ongoing development projects in Berbera. Key among these is the strategic Berbera Port, a cornerstone of Somaliland’s economic aspirations, managed by DP World and vital for regional trade, particularly with landlocked Ethiopia.
During the visit, President Irro is scheduled to hold working meetings with the regional and district administrations to discuss critical issues, including the strategic development of Berbera Port, security enhancements, and improvements in essential public services such as electricity, water, healthcare, and education. These discussions aim to ensure that Berbera continues to thrive as a key economic and logistical hub in the Horn of Africa, contributing to both local prosperity and regional stability.
The visit highlights President Irro’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and strengthening Somaliland’s position as a stable and democratic partner in the Horn region.
