On July 29, 2025, representatives from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), including Ambassador Charles King and Louise Hancock, head of the UK Somaliland office, held a high-level meeting with senior executives from Dahabshiil Bank and the broader Dahabshiil Group.
The discussions centered on strategies to promote economic growth in the Horn of Africa, with a focus on expanding financial access for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), fostering job creation, and encouraging diaspora investment.
The UK’s engagement, through the FCDO, reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting stability, economic resilience, and regional cooperation in East Africa by partnering with key Somali-led companies like Dahabshiil, a leading financial services provider in the Horn of Africa region, and globe.
