The Vice President H.E. Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi has reiterated the fact that the government is set against pilfer and embezzlement state funds.
The VP gave the caution once more as he opened a training session for the directors general and administration and finance directors of all state institutions.
The meeting was convened by the Office of the Auditor General and aimed to improve the working relations of their respective institutions and that of the auditor general, with the aim of enhancing the system of accountability, transparency and audit of the all the government ministries and institutions.
The VP, H.E. Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, underscored the government’s plans to fight corruption and maladministration and underpinned his steadfastness and that of the head of State to see to it that diligence takes precedence in state management.
“The Directors General are the backbone of the Ministries, and it is important that they work for the nation efficiently”, he said, and added, “The President and I swore by the Holy Quran, we are serious and committed to fighting corruption and mismanagement; this should be known vividly”.
He warned that anyone found guilty of engaging in malpractice would have to answer for it.
“I tell the directors general and the respective directors of the administration and finance departments that you will be held strictly accountable for how you work for the nation”, he cautioned.
