On behalf of Advocacy & Capacity Development Association (ACDA), I am delighted to extend my warmest congratulations to the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, Abdirahman Dahir Adan, the Director General Mohamed Abdirahman Hassan, and the entire Diaspora Directorate Team for their outstanding leadership and vision in successfully revitalising the Somaliland Diaspora Week.
The 2025 Diaspora Week, which is to be held at the newly inaugurated Serene Seravor Hotel in Hargeisa under the inspiring theme “Redefining the Role of Diaspora,” stands as a powerful testament to the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to strengthening connections with Somaliland’s global diaspora. This renewed format — larger in scale, longer in duration, and richer in substance — will open up new pathways for diaspora communities to contribute meaningfully to our nation’s development, unity, and international engagement.
I especially commend the Diaspora Directorate’s tireless efforts to create a truly inclusive platform, bringing together professionals, investors, youth, women, entrepreneurs, artists, and local stakeholders to share ideas, forge partnerships, and celebrate our collective identity and heritage.
A historic highlight of this year’s event will be the official inauguration by President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro) — the first time a sitting head of state has opened the Diaspora Week. This milestone signals the government’s genuine commitment to elevating the role of our diaspora on the national agenda.
The Ministry’s dedication to building meaningful, lasting ties with Somalilanders around the world is deeply inspiring. I believe this renewed approach will motivate generations at home and abroad to stand together, work together, and dream together for a brighter, more prosperous Somaliland.
