In a significant step toward deepening bilateral relations, Somaliland’s Turkish Consul General, Levent Çeri, met with Somaliland’s Minister of Investment Promotion and Industry, Hon. Said Mohamed Burale, to discuss enhanced cooperation and investment opportunities. The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Hargeisa, focused on fostering economic ties and creating job opportunities in Somaliland through Turkish investments.
Accompanied by Deputy Minister Eng. Mohamed Elmi Huno and Director General Abdifatah Ismail Duale, Minister Burale emphasized Somaliland’s commitment to creating a favorable environment for foreign investors. “We are eager to collaborate with Turkish businesses to drive economic growth and provide sustainable job opportunities for our youth,” Burale stated.
Consul General Çeri highlighted Turkiye’s growing interest in Somaliland, noting that Turkish investors are keen to explore opportunities in infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing. “Somaliland’s strategic location and stable governance make it an attractive destination for Turkish businesses looking to expand in the Horn of Africa,” Çeri said.
The discussions build on years of growing trade and political relations between Somaliland and Turkiye. Turkish businessmen have already initiated development projects in Somaliland, including in construction and trade, contributing to local job creation.
Both sides expressed optimism about future collaborations, with plans to facilitate more Turkish business delegations to Somaliland in the coming months. The Ministry of Investment Promotion and Industry continues to engage with global investors, aiming to position Somaliland as a hub for economic development in the region.
This meeting underscores Somaliland’s proactive approach to attracting foreign direct investment and fostering partnerships that align with its vision of economic resilience and growth.
