The Minister of Education and Science, Professor Ismail Duale Yusuf, announced today that 40,000 students across Somaliland registered to sit for the National Certificate Examinations for primary and secondary schools, scheduled to commence on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The announcement was made during a briefing to the Cabinet, where the Minister outlined the progress of the examination process and efforts to ensure its integrity.
To combat exam cheating, locally referred to as Qishka, the Ministry of Education has launched a nationwide awareness campaign targeting students and parents. The initiative is being conducted in collaboration with the Ministries of Religion and Endowments and Information, Culture, and Awareness. Minister Yusuf reported that the campaign is gaining traction, emphasizing the importance of fair and transparent examinations.
The National Certificate Examinations mark a significant milestone in Somaliland’s education sector, reflecting the government’s commitment to advancing academic standards and ensuring equitable opportunities for students.
