Somaliland President Holds Fruitful Talks with Kenyan National Assembly Speaker

H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, President of the Republic of Somaliland, held a productive meeting with Hon. Moses Masika Wetang’ula, Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya, during an official visit to Nairobi. The high-level discussions, attended by senior delegation members, parliamentarians from both nations, and officials from Somaliland’s Mission in Nairobi, focused on deepening cooperation and fostering regional stability.

The meeting centered on key areas of mutual interest, including enhanced parliamentary collaboration through dialogue, official visits, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Both leaders emphasized the importance of advancing democratic processes, with a focus on improving electoral systems and parliamentary functions. They also discussed the critical role of legislative bodies in promoting peace, security, and sustainable development across the Horn of Africa.

President Irro expressed gratitude for Kenya’s recognition of Somaliland’s democratic achievements and political stability. In response, Speaker Wetang’ula warmly welcomed the delegation, praising Somaliland’s mature democracy and reaffirming Kenya’s commitment to robust legislative cooperation. He further assured support for implementing agreements between the two governments.
