The Somaliland Intellectual Forum (SLIF) proudly acknowledges the significant diplomatic progress achieved during the recent official visit of H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) to Nairobi, Kenya. This visit represents yet another milestone in Somaliland’s steady pursuit of meaningful regional partnerships and affirms its growing presence in international diplomatic circles.

The reception accorded to President Cirro by the Government of Kenya reflects the respect and recognition Somaliland commands as a reliable regional actor and demonstrates the strength of mutual respect and deepening engagement between the two nations. His signing of the official Visitors’ Book further affirms the legitimacy of the visit, underscoring Kenya’s diplomatic recognition of Somaliland’s regional role.

Despite continued attempts by Somalia’s leadership to hinder Somaliland’s international outreach, Kenya’s conduct remains clear, principled, and sovereign. The language used in diplomatic communication from Kenyan authorities reflects adherence to international protocol, rendering Somalia’s lobbying efforts largely ineffective in the face of Somaliland’s mounting diplomatic gains. Somaliland’s official presence in Kenya; whether as a Trade Office or a Diplomatic Office; will play a vital role in promoting bilateral trade, political dialogue, and regional cooperation, reinforcing Somaliland’s broader quest for international recognition.

SLIF calls on all Somaliland citizens, especially youth and political figures, to remain vigilant against disinformation and coordinated efforts to downplay this diplomatic achievement. National unity and a shared commitment to Somaliland’s rightful recognition must override partisan narratives and externally driven distortions.

We commend President Cirro and his delegation for their steady leadership and diplomatic focus in elevating Somaliland’s status on the international stage. This visit is not only a diplomatic milestone but a reaffirmation of Somaliland’s growing relevance on the global stage. It is vital that Somalilanders continue to support such strategic efforts, celebrating diplomatic progress while staying focused on the ultimate goal of formal international legitimacy.

As Somaliland advances with clarity, resolve, and strategic partnership, we must remain united in purpose and unwavering in our pursuit of rightful recognition. The journey continues; with dignity, with vision, and with wisdom.
