The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro has expressed hope that the new president sworn in to lead the United States, Donald Trump, would work with Somaliland on issues that are of priority to the sovereignty of the nation.
He also said that he expects the new US President to align the cooperation and interests shared by the Republic of Somaliland and the US government, which prioritize peace and the development of democracy.
The Head of State said this in his congratulatory message to the new US President Donald Trump.
On the other hand, he noted that he would strengthen the traditional relations between the two countries.
He wished that his American counterpart would lead his country to prosperity during his term in office.
Meanwhile, the United States is making efforts to have Washington open a diplomatic office in the capital of the Republic of Somaliland, Hargeisa.
On the 15th of this month, the Senate and Congressional committees requested the US government to open a diplomatic office in Somaliland.
