The Ministry of Education and Science held a graduation ceremony for the first batch of Degree graduates from the Hargeisa Teacher Training College.
The graduation ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education and Science of Somalia, along with the Deputy Minister, the Governor of Maroodi-jeex Region, the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the National Examinations Office, the Hargeisa District Education officer, some of the directors of the Ministry of Education, the Head of the Teachers Training College and other distinguished guests.
The Chairman of the Teachers Training College, Rooda Ali Ahmed, explained the various stages that the teacher training college has gone through and how it came to be established. She noted that the college was opened to train teachers for high school students and provide them with two-years of teaching experience. She also said that one of its priorities was to improve the quality of in-service teachers and provide them with higher educational opportunities.
Various officials spoke at the venue, which included parliamentarians, all praising the tutorial fraternity of the college.
The minister hailed the students and their lecturers noting that it was a great feat of achievement by the education department to establish the institution.
