Information department meets Free Press Unlimited

A delegation from the Free Press Unlimited based in the Netherlands visited the Ministry of Information, Culture and National Guidance of the Republic of Somaliland Hon. Ali Mohamed Hassan, popularly known as Ali Marehaan, where they met the minister and the top officials of the ministry.

The delegation discussed with the officials of the ministry various issues that include the development of the press and the completion of the Somaliland press law bill, which is of great importance in the direction and improvement of the country’s media.

While the delegation was at the Somaliland Ministry of Information, they visited the different offices of the Ministry and toured the several sections of the institution and observed the works in progress.

The visitors praise the ministry’s efforts in running an institution quite well modernized; in fact the big positive changes that is vividly clear that also includes the beautification of the premises and booster relay stations installed in all regions of the country are due to the personal efforts of the minister himself Hon. Ali Marehan.

The ministry is engaged in the development of the press in Somaliland, both private and public, and it is worth noting that it has recently taken steps to improve the knowledge of journalists in the country, by establishing an institution to develop the proficiency skills of the scribes in the country.

The comprehensive Somaliland Press Laws whose act is in the terminal stages of its formulation is expected to guide and regulate the industry to even higher and greater levels.

Meanwhile the visitors have been touring other media houses establishment in the city that operates in the country.
