We must put aside partisan interests and stand up for the nation, says the VP

The Vice President H.E. Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail (Saili’i), presided over the official installation of the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yasin Haji Mohamud Faratoon on Wednesday.

The VP made a passionate speech filled with wisdom that was directed to the parliament urging them to put aside petty political and clannish differences and aspire to cohesive national interests.

Touching on the Sool crisis, the VP stated that it has reached a time when concerted efforts by the state, the parliament, elders and intellectuals should boldly address the issue.

He lamented that given the Sool crisis affecting a whole region hence brought untold suffering to the residents, the situation is precariously compounded by the most recent one of another insurgency in the making in Sahil region.

He called on all stakeholders mentioned to make a bold united front and nip the issues at the bud by boldly addressing them concertedly.

He lamented that bashful and sumptuous buffets are held at events in the capital city whereas there are situations demanding attention.

He said, “We are missing a whole part of the Sool region and we are not happy. We hold beautiful events with buffets in Hargeisa without flinching whereas we have IDPs. In order to solve it, we have to come together, and it is our responsibility s a whole”.

The VP noted that the responsibility is incumbent upon the government, political parties, the elders and the youth and both houses of the parliament to come together in solving the problems in the country concertedly since it is a national task.
