The President of the Somaliland Republic H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi, received the new Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Yasin Haji Mohamoud at the presidential palace upon his election.
The President welcomed the new parliamentary chief, who was accompanied by the Speaker of the Senate Hon. Suleiman Mohamoud Adan, the deputy speakers of the House of Representatives, members of the Parliament, senior officials of the KULMIYE party, cabinet minister and other guests, shortly after triumphantly wining the seat recently vacated by his predecessor.
The President described the Faratoon election as a clear message to the world showing how the community is united in co-existence and peaceful co-existence.
The Head of State noted, “Today you sent a voice of nationalism, you sent a voice of peace, you sent a voice of unity, you sent a voice of emissaries to the people of Sool, you sent a voice of conflict resolution, you sent a voice of nationalism, not a political voice but you have sent a nationalistic message to the world of cohesiveness of a country when the nation decides”.
At the same time the President called on the people to prepare for the union and presidential elections, which will be organized and held as scheduled by the Electoral Commission.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, who is also the first deputy chairman of the KULMIYE party, Hon. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, congratulated the new Speaker Hon. Yasin Haji Mohamud Hiir (Faratoon), and described his election as a success for the entire nation of the Republic of Somaliland.
The second vice-chairman of the House of Representatives Hon. Ali Hamud Jibril congratulated the new speaker called on the community to maintain their unity and work with the new chairman.
The newly elected chairman of the House of Representatives profoundly thanked the President and all the parliamentarians who voted for him and for giving him the special privileges.
The Speaker of the senate, Hon. Suleiman Mohamud Adan, also praised the personality of chairman Faratoon, and noted that the parliament has now got as a leader an elder who has an impeccable history and whose leadership he is proud of. He called on the members of the council to work well with him.
The House of Representatives elected the new speaker voted for by 46 members.
