THT- The government of Somaliland has praised the Taiwanese government for offering scholarships to students in the country. It also sent peace message to China.
This follows a visit to Taiwan embassy in Hargeisa by the vice president H.E. Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismael Sayli’i. The function sought to escort students who had won scholarships to study in Taiwan. The two countries share diplomatic ties.
The vice-president stated that he was elated that this is the second year in a row the Taiwanese government has enrolled Somaliland students to Taiwan universities. He thanked the Taiwan ambassador and his government for their consideration.
“Education is the foundation of development in the country. The scholarships are as a result of cooperation between Somaliland and Taiwan”, stated the VP.
The vice president confirmed that Somaliland shares a special relationship with the people and government of Taiwan.
He urged the Chinese government to exercise restraint and stop provocation of war with Taiwan. He requested the Chinese to promote peaceful coexistence with Taiwan.
The government is ready to accommodate Taiwanese investors to invest in the manufacturing sector.
