THT- The community has welcomed the government’s ban on the BBC, calling it a decision that was well overdue.
The government on Tuesday suspended the operations of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), accusing the broadcaster of undermining the credibility of the Somaliland nationhood.
In light of the #BBC's degradation of the respect and dignity of the Republic of #Somaliland, we as a government have decided to prevent it from operating in Somaliland. Thanks

Information Minister Hon. Saleban Yusuf Ali Kore told a press conference in Hargeisa that “the BBC failed to recognize Somaliland as a democratic country that has stood on its feet for 30 years.”
“Starting from today, I have commanded all functions related to BBC in Somaliland to be suspended,” he said.
Minister Kore said that it is unfortunate that the BBC Somali radio station which was established for the Somaliland Protectorate community, in recent years diminished its neutrality, and the manner they air Somaliland news;
“The ears of the Somaliland people do not deserve the statements which the BBC uses to describe Somaliland.”
