THT: The Somaliland Military Court sentenced Colonel Salah Bullale Jama, a member of the military, to death for the shooting death of Najma Abdillahi Maykal.
Najma a 22 years girl was shot to death on May 2 while driving near the Somaliland Supreme Court, allegedly because she had had a quarrel with the perpetrators sister prior.

After the killing, Bulale tried to escape but was apprehended by firefighters nearby, with Najma’s family loudly demanding that the accused be brought to justice and executed for his murder.Following an investigation, the Somaliland Military Court today sentenced the officer to death, for the murder of the young woman who was a civil servant attached to the Ministry of Agriculture in Hargeisa.
During the hearing and subsequent sentencing of the now former soldier officer , a lawyer who practised his trade at the same court that convicted him several military officers, relatives of the deceased and accused as well as members of the public were present .
The military Court has been hailed for fast tracking the case as opposed to regular norms at the Civil and criminal courts where matters of a similar nature take years to concluded.
