President has met 20 Ambassadors concludes diplomacy symposium

 THT- President H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi yesterday received and met with 20 Somaliland Ambassadors to the world, who have completed their diplomatic training in Berbera.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Isse Kayd Mohamud, concluded a week-long diplomatic training for Somaliland ambassadors.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Minister Dr. Isse said that the interest in the world about Somaliland is growing rapidly at the moment, and the lessons learned will be the roadmap for working together in the future.

“In this country, the interest and connections of the world are growing day by day. The lessons you learned here during the week will be the roadmap we will be working on,” said the minister.

Minister Dr. Isse said that the mindset of the people of Somalia has changed in recent times, and that you often see them on social media, supporting of Somaliland’s independence, and suggested that it should not be obstructed, and called on Somali politicians to follow suit.

“I wish our neighboring government of Somalia peace and reconciliation since we love their well-being, it is important that they should reciprocate it while knowing that we are a separate country.

Deputy Minister Hon. Abdinasir Omar Jama praised the efforts of the ambassadors during the training.

“I am especially grateful for the perseverance and hard work of the Somaliland ambassadors who were undergoing the training and the experts who provided it during the week,” he said.

Director General Mr. Mohamed Abdilahi Duale, thanked the trainers  for sharing their knowledge and expertise in diplomacy with the ambassadors.

He thanked them, “Special thanks are due to the 11 instructors who gave lectures, including Prof. Nabil Ayad, Prof. Iqbal Jazbhai, Fatima Zahra, and other experts who shared useful lessons with us during the training.”

“I would also like to thank the Director General of the Ministry of Trade and Tourism for his invaluable contribution as a student of Professor Nabil,” he added.

He said part of the purpose of the training was to get to know the ambassadors themselves, as well as to get to know them as they are top officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Berbera Mayor Cllr. Abdishakur Mohamud Idin speaking on the occasion wished the ambassadors that their gained knowledge in Berbera would add a new impetus to the quest for recognition saying, “I pray to God that the outcome of this conference will significantly change Somaliland’s relations with the rest of the world.”

Speaking on behalf of the ambassadors, Somaliland Ambassador to Canada Lul Ahmed Osman applauder the training and said that they had benefited from the experts’ insights”.

Meanwhile, various government Ministers presented keynote speeches to the diplomat’s symposium on Thursday.

Finance Minister, Dr. Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire, Planning Minister Dr. Omar Ali Abdillahi, Investment Minister Hon Abdillahi Abdirahman Are and Constitutional Affairs Minister Hon. Mohamed Haji Aden Elmi, whose ministries share close working relations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs updated the diplomats’ insight information.

A week-long training for Somaliland ambassadors, in Berbera, was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
