THT: The people and Government of Somaliland are intent on a peaceful , fair and transparent Parliamentary and local Councils elections.
This was stated by the National Elections Commission-NEC via the body’s Ethics, Complaints and Conflict Resolution committee in Hargeisa.
This was to reinforce an earlier warning by NEC that was transmitted together with the official six days three parties election campaign schedule.
In its statement NEC had warned political parties and candidates against acts contrary to election and other laws of the country , the same amplified by the electoral body’s Ethics and Complaints and conflict resolution committee.
In a statement issued in Hargeisa the committee said that Wadani, Kulmiye and UCID must adhere to the political parties election code of conduct of which they are signatories.
The electioneering exercise in which each party has been allocated two alternate Vote soliciting days was officially kicked of by UCID on the 23rd May thus next and last will be on wednesday the 26th May.
On Monday the 24th, and all over the country, trumpets blaring messages of vote soliciting for its 82 candidates for parliament and 249 for local council by the ruling Kulmiye party
Tuesday will be Wadani telling voters why they should vote for the opposition party’s 82 aspiring legislators and 249 councillors
