THT-The state is going round verifying whether its directives on petroleum prices are being adhered to in the country.

The exercise on the monitoring of the prices commenced yesterday Saturday 3rd April 2021 when officials from the trade department were seen doing spot checks on various gas filling stations in Hargeisa city.

This comes barely a week after the Trade, Industry and Tourism DG Engineer Abdi Mohamed Muhumed, also known as Abdeeq, read a directive by his minister to the effect of price guidelines to be adhered to on the 28th of March 2021.

In essence, ten days earlier than that, the Council of Ministers chaired by none other than the Head of the State H.E Musa Bihi Abdi, had ordered that the price of petroleum products that was then sky-rocketing was to be addressed on the 18th of March2021 meeting.

By thus, the ministry directed that importation prices were to have a ceiling price, distributors and retailers were similarly guided to have ceiling profits for both the Petrol and the Diesel brands.

The consumers therefore were to by diesel and petrol at 5,200 and 5,600 SL/Shs respectively.

The tentative checks reportedly show that most of the gas stations verified adhered to the directives. The ministry’s Marodi-jeh Regional coordinator led the drive.
