THT-The PFM Reform Coordination Unit in collaboration with the Office of the Auditor-General has organized a one-day workshop on the role of Civil Society Organizations in Auditing and Public Finance Management, on April 3, 2021, at Baraar Hotel Hargeisa.
The objective of the workshop was to familiarize civil society groups with their roles and responsibilities in the public finance watchdog.
Auditing plays an important role in supporting good governance and the administration of social development programs by limiting corruption and strengthening the accountability of responsible agencies. To provide information on government performance that is relevant to citizens, the civil society groups require a broader mandate and methodologies that enable them to comment on policies underpinning performace, and to work together with the Office of the Auditor-General to increase the effectiveness of audit processes.
