The Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland has started distributing diabetes medicine to government hospitals across the country after it was learnt that the disease is spreading rapidly in the country.
Director General of the Ministry of Health Development Dr. Mohamed Abdi Hargeye said that they have just started delivering insulin to all the regional hospitals in the country.
“We have found that diabetes affects many people who are unable to afford insulin. “We are distributing this medicine to all the hospitals in the regions,” he said.
Diabetes is a disease that causes blindness, kidney disease, heart disease and stroke, and is on the rise in many parts of the country.
