THT: The United Nations Security Council not only supports but urges continued talks between Somaliland and Somalia.

This was revealed during a briefing to the UNSC by the UN Secretary General Special Representative for Somalia James Swan at a session entirely discussing Somalia.
In the briefing on the current political situation in Somalia and the dispute over the conduct of the upcoming elections, the SRSG spoke about the Somaliland-Somalia talks in June this year in Djibouti.
Speaking at the UN Security Council on the current situation in Somalia, James Swan said he welcomed the talks between Somaliland and Somalia in Djibouti, but suggested that the planned talks continue.
“We welcome the meeting of Somali and Somaliland leaders hosted by the President of Djibouti on June 14th, facilitated by the European Union and the United States.” “We urge the ongoing technical committees’ discussions to continue,” said James Swan.
