Ministry of Information Solar Power Project inaugurated

The Ministers of Information and Energy this week jointly laid the foundation stone for a new building which will house Solar power installation which will be used as an alternative power source by the ministry.

The Solar powered project is being funded by the government of the United Arab Emirates and shall be implemented by the Somaliland Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

Hon Hussein Abdi Dualeh, Minister of Energy and Minerals speaking during the ground breaking ceremony said, “I am happy today as we jointly gather here to inauguration of the solar power project which upon its completion will be able to provide the energy needs of the Ministry of Information and national guidance and also save the bills incurred from energy suppliers and fuel not to mention it will be solely owned by the Ministry.

“The Solar project is part of the numerous development projects which the UAE government pledged to fund during President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud Silanyo last year visit to that country in which he met with top leaders  among them Sheik Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheik Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan”, Hon Hussein A Dualeh stated.

Hon Hussein Abdi Dualeh during the occasion thanked the current Ambassador Bashe Awil, current Somaliland representative to the UAE for working relentlessly in order to turn the project into reality.

Hon Osman Abdullahi Sahardid “Adani”, Minister of Information and National Guidance speaking during the function held at the Ministry premises said, “First and foremost I, would like to thank the Honorable Minister of Energy and Minerals for working towards the realization of the vital energy project which will save the ministry stretch financial resource and also the government of the UAE for the relentlessly support to the people of Somaliland.

On the other hand, Engineer Adil Sayid speaking on behalf of the UAE technical team overseeing the implementation of the project said, “The solar project being installed at the Ministry of Information is part of the numerous ongoing UAE funded development projects initiated in the country which upon completion the project will produce 500 Kilowatts and is expected to be completed within six months’ time.
