H.E President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud “Silanyo” has today issued a Presidential Decree # JSL/M/XERM/249-3164/042015 he gives the green light for the registration and issuance of voters cards process to commence in all regions in the country.
The Presidential Decree stated as Follows:-
In accordance with Article 90 of the Somaliland constitution (Presidential Powers) and as stipulated in Somaliland Voters Registration (Amendments & Additions) Law No. 37/2007, section 18 as amended in 2014.
In consideration of the recommendation made by the national electoral commission submitted on the 09/04/2015 and NEC document #KDQ/XK/405/2015 which outlines the period set for the registration and issuance of the national identification cards and voters registration cards.
In consideration of the fact of having a free and fair election is, first and foremost, to have the basic pre-requisite and indispensible national identification cards and voters registration cards.
Therefore President Silanyo has issued a presidential decree which paves way for the start of voter’s registration cards registration process in all regions of the country on the 21/07/2015.
