Hargeisa– Somaliland’s Deputy Health Minister, Ms. Samsam Salah, has raised alarms over the influx of substandard medicines and food into the country, linking them to the increasing prevalence of cancer and other diseases.
“I urge importers of food and medicines to fear God and stop bringing in these useless products,” declared Deputy Minister Samsam during her remarks.
She emphasized, “The deaths of young children we’re failing to treat are directly tied to these contaminated foods and medicines. We are monitoring those responsible for importing these harmful goods day and night.”
“Most of our health crises stem from imported medicines, and the food we consume is worsening the situation,” she added.
The Deputy Minister’s stark warning highlights growing concerns over public health risks posed by unregulated imports in Somaliland.
