His Excellency President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi “Irro” of Somaliland, currently visiting neighboring Djibouti on a working trip, toured cutting-edge telecommunications facilities to explore avenues for regional collaboration.
During the visit, a Djibouti official shared the following statement:
“This afternoon, I had the honor of welcoming the President of Somaliland for an exclusive tour of the Haramous Submarine Cable Station during his working visit to Djibouti.
The visit highlighted Djibouti’s world-class telecommunications infrastructure—a driving force behind East Africa’s digital transformation. The Haramous facility, now home to 10 advanced subsea cables, solidifies Djibouti’s position as a vital telecommunications hub, seamlessly connecting Africa to global digital networks.
“We are proud to harness this strategic advantage to strengthen regional partnerships. By sharing technical expertise and deepening ties with neighbors like Somaliland, we reaffirm our commitment to a unified vision: an inclusive, interconnected digital ecosystem that accelerates shared prosperity and progress.”
