The Minister of Information and Public Awareness, Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, strongly criticized the planned visit by the Somali Prime Minister to areas within the borders of the Republic of Somaliland.
Speaking at a press conference held today at his office for the national media, Minister Ahmed Yasin stated that the visit of Prime Minister Hamse to Las Anod would not undermine the existence or sovereignty of Somaliland, but he warned him of the consequences of his actions.
“We view the statement from the Somali Prime Minister as a breach, provocation, and an attempt to create tension,” he said.
The Minister of Information added that the government would take appropriate measures in response to the interference by the Somali government, stating, “The discord that Prime Minister Hamse is stirring up, we will counter with strength and strategy.
We are informing the international community and our neighbors that this man is not pursuing anything good.”
Hon. Ahmed Yasin further remarked that if Prime Minister Hamse is serious about uniting his country, he should start by bringing the regional administrations of Puntland and Jubaland under his control at the Halane camp.
“Hamse, the reason you are coming to Las Anod for is to toy with the people of Las Anod, to create a new election that spills Somali blood and causes chaos,” he said.
The Minister of Information’s remarks come after the Somali Prime Minister announced in recent days that he intends to travel to Las Anod.
